Celebrating Our Nations 250th Birthday through ART

The Armstrong County Arts Council is proud to celebrate the completion and unveiling of our county’s Bells Across PA 250 public art installation, titled “Echoes of Armstrong.” Created and beautifully hand-painted by local artist Cathy Strate, this meaningful work now stands as a visual tribute to Armstrong County’s heritage, resilience, and contributions to our nation’s 250-year story.

On Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM, the Armstrong County Historical Society’s McCain House Museum hosted a memorable unveiling ceremony. Local dignitaries, community organizations, county leaders, and friends and family of the artist gathered alongside representatives from America250PA’s Harrisburg team to welcome this impressive new landmark. The event marked the culmination of months of collaboration, creativity, and community partnership.

“Echoes of Armstrong” reflects key moments, landmarks, and themes from our county’s past while celebrating the people who continue to shape its future. With thoughtful detail and artistic storytelling, Cathy Strate’s design transforms the fiberglass bell into a vibrant symbol of what makes Armstrong County unique.

The Armstrong County Arts Council is honored to have served as the driving force in securing this opportunity and guiding the creation of Armstrong County’s bell. This project reflects our mission: to bring public art to our communities, elevate local artists, and celebrate the stories that bind us together.

Now on permanent display at the McCain House Museum in Kittanning, the bell will serve as a historic marker, offering residents and visitors alike a visual invitation to learn more about Armstrong County’s journey through the centuries. Additionally, the bell will be featured on a Visit PA tourism map, encouraging travelers from across Pennsylvania and beyond to stop in, explore our downtown, and experience our county’s cultural heritage firsthand.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this project and joined us for the unveiling. “Echoes of Armstrong” is more than a work of art—it is a testament to community pride and a lasting symbol of Armstrong County’s place in America’s 250-year narrative.
