Building Bridges Through Art:
Our Director’s Role in Community Impact

At the Armstrong County Arts Council, we believe in the transformative power of art to bring people together and enhance our community. As Executive Director, my role goes beyond managing day-to-day operations—I am deeply committed to building bridges between local artists, businesses, community organizations, and government officials. By fostering these connections, we create opportunities for public art projects, support local vendors, and integrate art into our county’s investments and initiatives. Together, we’re not just creating art; we’re shaping a vibrant and inclusive cultural future for Armstrong County.

Downtown Kittanning, Inc.

The Armstrong County Arts Council collaborates with Downtown Kittanning Inc. to establish long-term goals for public art projects that enhance the town’s charm and vibrancy. Together, we work to develop creative initiatives like murals and artistic bicycle racks, leveraging regional resources to secure talented artists and design thoughtful, sustainable plans. This partnership ensures that public art becomes a lasting part of Kittanning’s landscape, enriching the community and fostering local pride.

Kittanning Public Library

The Armstrong County Arts Council is excited to collaborate with the Kittanning Public Library to bring a unique public art installation to life. Working together, we are helping the library secure a talented artist to design and install an engaging piece outside their building. The library’s administration team has distributed a request for artist proposals to art organizations across the Pittsburgh region, ensuring a wide reach to attract creative talent for this meaningful project.

Armstrong Trail

The Armstrong County Arts Council is partnering with Armstrong Trails to pursue funding opportunities for an exciting long-term goal: integrating public art along the extensive network of walking and biking trails throughout Armstrong County. By combining creative vision with strategic planning, this collaboration aims to enhance the trail experience for residents and visitors, creating unique and inspiring spaces that celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of our region.

Goat Donuts / Divine Redeemer School

The Armstrong County Arts Council Director collaborated with the owner of Goat Donuts in Leechburg to create a unique student art exhibit within the business. This initiative provided young artists the opportunity to display their work in a polished, public setting, allowing families and the community to celebrate their creativity outside of the traditional school environment. The project offered a memorable and inspiring experience for the students while highlighting the importance of local art.

Apollo-Ridge High School

The Armstrong County Arts Council board, Executive Director, and local artists participated in the Apollo-Ridge High School Career Day to inspire students by sharing their personal journeys in the arts. Through engaging presentations, they discussed their successes, challenges, and the diverse opportunities available in creative careers. This event highlighted the value of persistence and passion, encouraging students to explore their own artistic potential and consider how art can play a meaningful role in their futures.

“Armstrong County History” class at Armstrong County Historical Museum

The Armstrong County Arts Council Executive Director joined a classroom visit to the Armstrong County Historical Museum, where students from the Armstrong County history class, led by teacher Randy Cloak, explored the rich heritage of the region. During the visit, students received artistic insights into several pieces of artwork housed in the museum, deepening their understanding of the cultural and historical significance of these works. This collaboration provided a unique learning experience, connecting history and art in an engaging way.
