The inaugural Farmers Market Art Walk was recently held in Ford City. It was located in the parking lot across from the BC3 campus.

Alyssa Schaffhauser organized the event. Schaffhauser is a local artist (Wired with Allie) of Ford City, a member of the farmers market and a volunteer with the Armstrong County Art Council.

She organized the event to help bring traffic to the Farmers Market and to spotlight local artists in the community.“This is awesome,” Schaffhauser said.“I am really, really happy, proud and thankful to everybody that helped because this was not just me, this was a team effort.”

Schaffhauser said there were over 20 vendors.“(I) urge support for local produce, art and businesses,” Schaffhauser said.

There was a children’s tent with interactive art displays, photo props and coloring pages, which were donated by local artists. Next year, Schaffhauser is hoping to have the Farmers Market Art Walk during the farmers market season every fourth Thursday of each month.

There will be another Farmers Market Art Walk next month on Sept. 28.
